Hebrew to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general) / הפצה ושיווק?
Hebrew term or phrase: שיווק
I'm a bit confused when it comes to denoting that a company is the "משווק" of a certain product e.g. cars.

In Hebrew the frequently used term is משווק which is "marketer" but as far as I know (at leas in the US) one talks about the "distributor" (e.g Honda's distributor in Israel).

What would be the correct term in English?

English translation:distribution
Explanation:
I would always use "distributor" for the company that imports and sells cars in Israel. If the company is not the actual importer and "main distributor" then I would refer to them as a "dealer" and they have "dealership" in a certain make.

Asker: Sangro - that is exactly the answer I was looking for because it's pretty evident that is can't be "marketer" - THNX!

agree  Ty Kendall: I agree with Sangro, in the UK we talk about "Honda dealers" or "Mitsubishi dealers", especially with cars and vehicles. Spot on Sangro!

you wrote שיווק yet you ask about משווק
משוווק is marketing person or marketer.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Gad- thnx for the reply. had not known the literal meaning then I might as well look for a new career :-) My question was referring to the common usage in English which, in this case as in so many cases in translation , is not the literal meaning.

Asker: Basically I was wondering what the accepted collocations were in English as it did not seem correct to refer to a car distributor as a "marketer" despite the Hebrew use of משווק or שיווק
