These are checks that the bank is asked to cash in advance of their due date. The bank will charge a commission per check and will take a percentage of the face value of the check depending how long in advance it is being asked to cash it. שיקים למשמרת are post-dated checks deposited in the bank (usually to form part of a guarantee) which will be credited only on their due date. Once again the bank will charge a commission per check for this service. |

בעלי עסקים בעקבות הוצאותיהם המרובות: תשלום משכורות לעובדים, קבלת וייבוא סחורה, תפעול שוטף של העסק, מיסים וכו' וכו', זקוקים לרוב למזומנים על מנת לשלם הוצאותיהם השוטפות.
בעלי עסקים לרוב עובדים עם שיקים דחויים וניכיון שיקים הוא הפתרון היעיל ביותר עבורם בכדי לקבל כסף מזומן. ניתן לראות זאת כסוג של הלוואה. בעל העסק ניגש לבנק או לחברת ייעוץ העוסקת בתחום ניכיון שיקים, מוסר השיקים ולאחר גביה שסוכמה מראש, לרוב מדובר באחוזים מסכום הכסף הנקוב בשיק, מעבירים לו כסף או שיק מזומן.
ניכיון השיקים בעצם זה פתרון יעיל לכל בעל עסק אשר מקנה לו בטחון כלכלי וכן מרווח נשימה. ניתן לראות זאת כסוג של מסגרת מימון נוסף.
בעצם לא רק בעלי עסקים הם היחידים שמתעסקים עם שיקים לניכיון, ישנם גם אנשים פרטיים כמו לדוג' משכירי דירות אשר מתנהלים עם שיקים שגם להם השירות עוזר אך ניתן להם בתנאים שונים במקצת.
