7 hrs confidence: for whom it is a matter of life and death
Explanation: Some other suggestions:
It is extremely important to him/her. His/her life depends on it.
The point being that this is an extreme expression of something being important to a person.

Smantha - what about "is passionate about it"?

I would point out, however, for the record, that "life" is just as much a translation of נפש as "soul" is.

Asker: Thank you. This suggestion is also idiomatic, but less close to the oroiginal "soul" word.
Asker: Oh, that one is delicious!!!
As I said, I wish there was a way I could choose more than one answer
Asker: Yes, it is, but when you say "a matter of life and death" or "his/her life depends on it" it could also mean a state of emergency, something life threatening, whereas הדבר בנפשו perhaps is more of a passion for something (perhaps, even, a life-long passion :). Thus I liked a lot your last suggestion.
