I suggest you read the HE text - broadcasters, incl. cellular companies - are bound to pay royalties for protected performances. I am not an expert - but I think that the performing artist him/herself has to pay the royalties for the work of art performed (the lyrics, musical notes, etc.) to their respective authors. Moreover, a broadcaster has to pay royalties for each time a certain performance is played (broadcast). So, if a broadcaster plays 5 different performances (different orchestras) of the Beethoven 5th, each 5 times, it has to pay 125 units of royalty. |
