Hebrew to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general) | | Hebrew term or phrase: שיקוף | This word שיקוף appears in three lines of a report on repair of a fractured femur. In previous documents, שיקוף referred to taking video of the procedure. In this case that doesn't seem to fit:
הנחה על שולחן מתיחה, תחת שיקוף רדוקציה סגורה עד קבלת עמדה טובה
חתך עורי על פני הטרוכנטר, תחת שיקוף קידוח ע"י הגיי--הייעודי
שיקופי ביקורת סגירת הפצע בשכבות
So, what is this שיקוף referring to? I am stumped. |

| | fluoroscopy | Explanation: sometimes procedures in the OR are performed under continuous x-raying = under fluoroscopy (in US medical lingo).
orthopedic surgery may require operating under fluoroscopy (hopefully for very short periods of time).
Usually, at the end of the report there should be a notation regarding the number of minutes the patient was exposed to the radiation, but not everyone is careful about noting that.
In "older times", in Israeli medical lingo, an x-ray was called
שיקוף
as in:
שיקוף חזה
but this has been replaced by the modern:
צילום חזה
and
שיקוף
has come to mean - fluoroscopy.
