extracurricular activity OR class
Explanation:
"Class" would be the exact translation. The generic term would be "extracurricular activities". Which one to use would depend on the context.

Activity, Group activity, class

Explanation:
I guess that these are viable options.
I think that class (or lesson) and group activity will cover most cases

In response to Eli's reply, I don't think that extracurricular activity fits here. I first consider it also, but from what I know about extracurricular activity, it doesn't have the same meaning as in חוג in Hebrew.
חוג is usually a payed class in certain subject, extracurricular activity is a volunteer activity that student from a certain age are required to participate in. It is usually free and conducted within the school framework (hence the name). I might be wrong of course, but this was the reason why I dismissed this option.

Example sentence(s):
  • In addition to regular schooling, Shlomo participated in a number of extracurricular activities.
  • I signed Shlomo up for a ceramics class.

A club will can be free but more usually will have a membership fee of some sort or something to pay somewhere along the line. It also needs someone to serve as the club organiser, arranging for any visits, materials, instruction, etc. Sometimes clubs - particularly youth clubs - are able to get sponsorships from local companies to help pay for things like sports equipment, etc. Even if there is no actual fee to join the club, parents may be asked to contribute for things like badminton nets and racquets and balls. Computer clubs need computers. These can be bought through the club or donated. Different clubs are organised in different ways. I hope this helps.
