No way to "officially determine for certain 13:01 Mar 20, 2010
No way to "officially determine for certain what this term meant in building terms at the time.
The term indicates a corner HEAD stone - a word which was mainly used to depict higher or top things - so it might have been a TOP corner stone,
However - ROSH (head) may refer to BEGINNING (like Rosh Ha'shana for new year, Rosh Hodesh for first day of the month etc.), so it could simply refer to what we now call "corner stone" - the first stone of the building. Note that the (more) modern term "even pina" is not present in the bible or even later scripts like Talmud, so this could well be the case. |
