Hindi term or phrase: Maine dil se kaha, dhoond laana khushi

English translation:I told my heart to find me happiness / I said to my heart, "go and find me happiness!"

Explanation:
It's part of a Hindi song, and in this case "dil se kahaa" means "said to (my) heart", NOT said from my heart (that meaning is also right, but not appropriate here).

Here are some lines from that song:

मैंने दिल से कहा (maine dil se kahaa) > I said to my heart
ढूँढ लाना ख़ुशी (dhoond laanaa khushi) > go and find me happiness
नासमझ लाया ग़म (naa samajh laayaa gham) > (but) that fool brought me sorrow
तो ये ग़म ही सही (to yeh gham hii sahii) > well then, let me accept sorrow.

Similiar to Keshab's version, but I think the "my" pronoun is implied in the wording, and so the actual meaning is not "from my heat" but "to my heart". But this is only a minor hair-splitting.

Usually, in hindi songs, the singer asks for a lot of things (!) (thus, I asked my heart); but it is an expression of emotions only and not really a question. Sometimes, the singer can also say/talk from the heart (thus, I told my heart); and some time (s)he tells others things to do (thus, I spoke from my heart). A few preceeding or successive lines would be helpful.

Lastly, the translated text can also be reconfigured based on the requirment of the end user. Is it to be an explanation of what the lyrics mean or is it to be a substitute Hindi Lyric?
