Hindi term or phrase: ghas phoos
they are looking for a place to eat, and the conversation goes like:

“That new place, Let’s B Veg?” asked Father Booty.
“No ghas phoos, no twigs and leaves!” said Uncle Potty firmly. He never ate anything green if he could help it.

it clearly means someting vegetarian, but i'd be grateful if you can explain the literal meaning.

agree  Shera Lyn Parpia: "ghas" means grass, referring to leafy vegetables. Maybe "rabbit food" would be a good way to translate into English, slightly disparaging!

  -> Thanks Shera Lyn Parpia!

neutral  Martin Cassell: but I think a literal translation might serve well to convey the speaker's dismissive attitude to vegetarian food // or, indeed, Shera Lyn's suggestion of "rabbit food"

  -> Sorry, I don't agree to your point that literal translation will serve the purpose.
