Nincs rá külön szó, a folyó egyes szakasza lehet section, stretch vagy course.
Elég nehéz meghatározni, hogy mikor melyik a jó, mert egymást átfedő fogalmak.
Lehet mondani, hogy "dredging the new section of the river", de azt is, hogy "on the newly created stretch of the river dredging will be finished by....", vagy "the new course of the river", stb.
A stretch meghatározható folyószakasz, így lehet azt mondani, hogy "the new section will be created on the stretch between Hounslow and Twickenham".
"From Isleham to Prickwillow, the river flows for almost 4 miles (6.4 km) in an artificial cut, thought to have been constructed by the Romans."
A course legkevésbé illik ide, mert inkább a folyó menetét, irányát jellemzi.
Itt:
"typical cross-sections of the new section/cut of the river (to be created) are shown on the following drawings:"
Vagy: "the figures below show/illustrate typical cross-sections of the planned new section of the river".
És: "the illustrations below are representatives of the typical river bed cross-sections of the planned new strech of the river". stb.

Asker: A fordítás során a "szelvény" eddig mindig "section" volt. De ha a műszelvényre nincs külön szó, akkor megnyugodtam, és "new section" lesz a dologból. Köszönöm az információt!!
