Márpedig – a MIÉP-hez hasonlóan – a Jobbiknak sem történelmi referenciáiban, szimbolikus pol itikájában, sem pedig ideológiájában nem fedezhetőek fel kifejezetten nemzetiszocialista elemek (szemben az egyébként valóban létező, kifejezetten újhungarista hazai csoportokkal). A magyar politikatudomány a Jobbikhoz hasonló politikai alakulatokat sokkal inkább a fajvédelem tradíciójába sorolja, amely lényegét tekintve különbözik a forradalmi és jóval militánsabb nemzetiszocialista hagyománytól.
Minden szótár simán "racism"-nek fordítja a fajvédelmet, de a politikaitudományban ez nem helyes kifejezés. A megrendelöt megkéreztem, ezt írta magyarázatképpen: "A fajvédelem konkrét irányzata az extrém politikai irányoknak, nem a rasszizmus szinonímája. Pl. Szálasi fajvédö volt." |

Tudom, hogy nem fog tetszeni a javaslatom, de későbbi felhasználók hasznát vehetik. Előnyei:
(1) Mind az EN "rascialism", mind a HU "fajvédelem" számos beszélő számára a "racism"~"rasszizmus" szinonimája. Gyanús, hogy itt a fogalmak utólagos diverzifikálásáról van szó: igen gyakori a tudományban, hogy szinoním kifejezésekbe utólag nüansznyi jelentéskülönbséget magyaráznak bele egy-egy elmélet kedvéért.
(2) A javasolt kifejezéssel elegánsan fordítható egy ilyen mondat: "Szálasi nem rasszista [= racist], hanem fajvédő [= racialist] volt".
(3) Az amúgy kiváló kollégák alternatív javaslata a magyar szóhoz tapad, nehézkes, nehezen alakítható át (fajvédelem > fajvédő), és hiányzik belőle az "izmus" jelleg, az ideológiai dimenzió (a mozgalom még nem ideológia).
(4) A tárgyiasult szó olyan, mint a ruhafogas: mindenki azt akaszt rá, amit akar. A "cinterem" < lat. coemeterium < gör. κοιμητήριον ("alvóhely") a temető, de sokak számára olyan terem, amelyben cink kupák vannak, a "virulens" = mérgező, ártó, de sokak számára a "viruló, életerős" mellékértelme is benne van. A "racialism"-ba tökéletesen belefér a "fajvédelem" (vs "rasszizmus").
