Thanks for your help, Katalin and Judit. I just heard from the translation agency that 'VAN' is part of the name of a person (be that still strange) and does not need to be translated.

Could it be an abbreviation referring to the person's name(s) in a database? The N at the end could stand for Name.

I suspect it is an abbreviation, but without knowing what comes after it, it is very hard to figure it out. Do you know what is blacked out on the document? A series of numbers, a name? The whole series of data is strange though, because if this is all about one person with different names at different times (which is possible, people can change their names), how could the same person have different birthdates? Or is it about a person with different (false) identities? Very strange.
