Hungarian to English translations [PRO] Names (personal, company)
Hungarian term or phrase:Csaba Laszlo or Laszlo Csaba
Scottish football club Heart of Midlothian (Hearts) have a new Hungarian manager. British websites say his name is Csaba Laszlo. I was convonced that "Laszlo" is the Christian name and "Csaba" the surname.
Both names are standard Hungarian Christian names, but equally, both can be surnames as well. Therefore, unless you know the person, or for example read the name in a Hungarian text, in which case the surname always comes first, you cannot be sure.
To confirm, go to a Hungarian website, you will see Laszlo Csaba. In English, however, it is inverted, the given name preceding the family name, thus you will often see Csaba Laszlo. The confusion originates from the fact that both (cont. below)
Apologies. I may have expressed myself awkwardly. I just would love to find out which is the Christan name and which is the family name. Sorry, I don't speak Hungarian, so I am unable to fully appreciate the links in Hungarian.
