Hungarian term or phrase: -ig
Dear forum,

When I say:

2010-1-1-tol 2010-8-ig

does that include the whole month of august, or is the last day of the designated period July 31?

Thanks for your help!

Explanation:
We don't use such a form:

2010-1-1-tol 2010-8-ig

The person, who wrote this 1) either missed the wrote the exact date, or 2) she/he was not familiar with Hungarian spelling. If we don't know the exact date then we rather use dates written in text and not in digits. So in case of 2) then the author should had written: 2010 augusztusáig (until August 2010). This should mean till the end of August. But only the author know what she/he really meant.

But as I mentioned:

Only the author knows what she/he really meant.

If it says 2010-8-ig (augusztusáig) it doesn't mean that it doesn't include August. If I say: 2012 augusztusáig meg kell csinálni, it means till the very last day of August it must be done. Augusztusáig -> till 31. 08. 2012 because the very first day of August is also August and 20.08 is also August, but after the 31st of August it will be September.
