Icelandic term or phrase: Í KAUPBÆTI
Í KAUPBÆTI

Hi,

Presumably the HANN of the first line I quote is Jón, the rich boy and ladies’ man. Fúsi is mentioned for the first time here. Í KAUPBÆTI is given as meaning INTO THE BARGAIN in my dictionary, but what bargain could be referred to here?

Best wishes,

Simon

Explanation:
Í kaupbæti can mean "into the bargain" and also "as a bonus, as an addition to a regular salary".
I presume Fúsi works for Þóra's father and has been hoping to marry her.
