Icelandic to English translations [PRO] Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs / police report on theft | | Icelandic term or phrase: SIS smellur | | The police in Reykjavik have produced a report on the theft of items from a foreigner's vehicle. I understand the last bit of the following sentence, but I don't know what the 1st 2 words are trying to say. SIS smellur leiddi ekkert saknaemt i ljos. Thanks for any help, David |
| | | English translation:SIS query | Explanation: "SIS smellur" refers to a checkup performed by the police. "SIS" refers to the Schengen Information Database. The police run a check on the database and this is the "smellur". It would seem that in this case the database returned a negative as nothing criminal was listed upon the check. |

7 hrs confidence: peer agreement (net): +1
7 hrs confidence: Schengen Information System hit
Explanation: SIS stands for Schengen Information System
This sentence simply means that when they searched on the SIS database for the person in question they received no hit, i.e. the person in question has no criminal record on the SIS-database.
