Icelandic to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general) / name of illness | | Icelandic term or phrase: psoriasis | | apart from 'psoriasis' on its own, I'd like to know how to combine it with 'arthritis' (liðagigt) in order to translate the following: psoriatic arthritis or arthritic psoriasis. Thanks, David |
| | | English translation:Sóri (psoriasis) | Explanation: The correct term is "Sóri" or "blettahreistur". The word "sóríasis" is sometimes used as well (or even "psoriasis", i.e. unchanged). It is common to include the english word in brackets as per the example below if "sóri" or "sóríasis" is used. I would recommend using either "sóri" or "sóríasis" as "blettahreistur" is not as widely used. You would also be justified in just using "psoriasis".

In relation to psoriatic arthritis it is more common to use "sóragigt". |

20 mins confidence: Sóraliðbólga
Explanation: Upon Googling a little, this is what I found. Since this is certainly a contirved term, you should specifiy psoriatic arthritis next to it.

David, you should have posted two questions. I answered the one about psoriatic arthritis. Obviously psoriasis is an Icelandic<>English congnate. Since in many cases they are even spelled the same (psóríasis), I couldn't possibly imagine that you wanted clarification on that. Please be more clear in the future and ask separate questions instead of piggybacking a bunch of crap onto the original question. Thanks.
