Italian term or phrase: Computare termine latino

The whole sentence states:
La voce "conto" deriva dal latino "computare". In passato, con analogo significato si sono usate le voci "ragione" da cui "ragioneria", "rubrica", "partita".

I am not so hot on the Latin side - I presume I could use "compute".
For "ragione/ragioneria" could I use reckon ?
rubrica / partita - no idea

Would anyone think it ok to suggest to them that in English it doesn't actually come over as well as in Italian and to cut it out ?

Explanation:
"Computare" in Latin is "to reckon", "to number" or "to count" - the latter might be the best choice here. I think "reckon" (as in reckoning up) would be good for "ragione/ragioneria". "Rubrica" can be (financial) index and "partita" an entry in a book. I think it would be a good idea to mention that the wordplay does not really work in English, and to keep "conto" with translation in brackets, as it is "conto" and not "account" which is specifically stated as deriving from "computare".
