I think agro-food just doesn't sound Englsih to me - after all, most food will be produced from "agro" activities anyway, won't it?

I feel that "typical, local agri-food producer" is too long and un-Eng.; also, in Eng., agri-food sounds larger scale than "typical, local" implies, both in Eng, on the farmers' market level (or any markets selling local food produce) and in the Italian term of the Q.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Why not "agro-food" instead of "food" ? I agree with "typical local" though. What about "Typical local agro-food producer" ? Does it sound "translated" ? I know some hate "agro-food" but its usage seems to be on the rise

Asker: Sorry ! I meant "Producer of typical local agro-food"

Asker: I don't like "agro/agri-food" myself but "Agri-food" is UK english ! http://www.northdevon.gov.uk/lgcl_agri_food_support There is even a "Defra's Agri-food Exports Division"

agree  Ivana UK: I agree that to most En speakers "agro-food" just doesn't sound right - however I also agree with Umberto in that the term is slowly becoming more acceptible (48,000 hits for the UK alone, primarily in government and university websites)

-> Thank you, Ivana - well, perhaps it is, esp. in those quarters; I suppose it depends on the website/context/tone, etc. :)
