Italian term or phrase: ovuli
Le tovagliette in puro lino, con intarsi di pizzo a filo d’argento decorato con perle, riprendono il tema degli archi trilobati del loggiato della facciata del Palazzo Ducale. Il pizzo è intarsiato seguendo il motivo trilobato con l’aggiunta di un ciondolo in perle a quadrifoglio, inserite in una maglia di pizzo a rete con filo argento. Anche il sottopiatto, il piattino pane e il portatovagliolo in argento sbalzato a mano seguono i motivi di Palazzo Ducale. Incastonati negli ovuli del piatto e del portatovagliolo sono alloggiati cabochon di malachite. I piatti sono in porcellana bianca traforata sagomata con disegno a progetto e decorazioni in foglia d’oro bianco.

I've no idea what ovuli could be here. Thanks for any help!

Explanation:
Honestly it sounds much simpler to me thinking of it in English, like the plate has embossed or concave oval shaped decorations... in English I would say:

Incastonati negli ovuli del piatto = Set within the oval decorations of the plate (this could imply they are embroidered in the napkin as well as embossed in the ceramic)
