Basically this is "manifestazioni a premio", that is, the umbrella for concorsi a premio and operazioni a premio, governed by D.P.R. 430 of 26/10/2001. Concorsi a premio are advertsing actions that attribute a prize by some competition or draw mechanism which involves the capacity of participants to use their ability to provide a result or judgement. The operazioni a premi are advertising actions offering free gifts against a purchase or a certain number of proofs of purchase - generally used by mainstream retail advertisers. Hope this is clear. Just as an aside, you may remember seeing "Aut Min Rich" at the bottom of promotional adverts, as before 2001, it was the Intendenza di Finanza that authorised both prize competitions and free gifts with product purchase. The authorisation procedure took aaaaages and so we used to calculate the fine into the promotional budget before going on air as standard practice. Now it is the Ministry of Economic Development that grants authorisation, although the procedue is still full of red tape for the concorsi (because it's gambling), while it is streamlined for the operazioni. Also an effect of the major TV retail advertisers and their lobby, I feel. |
