Science - Agriculture / Herbicides - labels | | Italian term or phrase: piantine filate | Can anyone suggest what "piantine filate" means in this sense? Surely it doesn't mean not to plant them in a row? Any comments welcome (I don't go beyond window boxes myself). Thanks

Asker: Thanks, but here we are talking cabbage and cauliflower.
Asker: Sorry, I owe you an apology. I've done some more research and think your answer is right - the cabbages and cauliflowers are, in fact, grown from seed in greenhouses or wherever then transplanted when they are just little plantlings or whatever they are called. So it would be logical not to use the product on weaker plants. Or would it?? I am really stumped by this one.

Le piantine si trapiantano allo stadio di 4-5 foglie vere (40-50 giorni dalla semina). Ritardare potrebbe dar luogo a piantine filate o apparato radicale aggrovigliato, con conseguenti ripercussioni negative sull'attecchimento e sviluppo successivo.
