Italian term or phrase: ponderalmente
I am translating a text regarding soil decontamination treatments and am unsure about 'ponderalmente':

Dal punto di vista produttivo, al primo rilievo solo le piante allevate nelle parcelle trattate con PIC 40 g/m2 apparivano meno produttive sia ponderalmente che numericamente.

I think it is referring to the weight of the fruit on the plants but I just want to make sure.

Thanks

agree  xxxMr Murray: yep, less productive 'by weight' than number

agree  luskie: by weight and by number

agree  BdiL: Yes, with luskie. A better way to say it would be "sia ponderalmente sia numericamente" (either... or = sia... sia), but increasing numbers of Italian are getting in love with "che" as the second introductory clause where there's a parallel. Maurizio
