Abstract (English) - This paper reports the main results of trials carried out during the last years in Northern Italy on the biological control of the European corn borer, Ostrinia nubilalis (Hubner), using the egg parsitoid Trichogramma brassicae Bezdenko in **grain corn** fields. The paper explains: (a) the techniques of parsitoids release in field (amount of parasitoids released, number and timing of releases, distribution of the parasitoids); (b) the behaviour of the trichogramma wasp in field (post-release dispersal, parasitization activity on O. nubilalis egg masses laid in different parts of the corn plant): (c) the parasitoid efficiency (course and level of parasitization, efficiency of different strains, influence both on amount of pest larvae at the harvest and on crop yield). Finally, the possibilities of reducing the cost of the treatment and extending the use of T. brassicae for the biological control on other crops such as seed corn, sweet corn and pepper in the future are examined
