Tech/Engineering - Agriculture
Italian term or phrase: trinciasarmenti
Il termine rientra in una lista di macchinari agricoli.
Ne ho trovato una descrizione in wiki:
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinciasarmenti, ma non ho idea di quale sia l'equivalente inglese.

English translation:cane chopper/shredder
Explanation:
"Sarmento" is a cane, in other words a mature grapevine shoot after the bark becomes tan-coloured. Canes are thinned (pruned) in winter and used to make mulch or, increasingly nowadays, pellets for sale or on-site energy production. "Vine chopper/shredder" is OK, although it is actually a hypernym.

"Stalk" can refer to the bunchstem ("peduncolo") of the cluster or the pedicel ("pedicello") of an individual berry but these generally end up as pomace, the fruit waste left behind after the grapes are crushed.

Asker: Thank you!

Asker: I seem to find cane shredders only used for sugarcane fields; when it comes to fruit farming vine shredder is more prevalent. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!
