Italian to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Archaeology | | Italian term or phrase: offerenti | I'm proofreading a text. The subject is terracotta votive images of "offerenti" which has been translated as "bidders", and that is just not right in this context.
This is the sentence I have:
There are numerous standing bidders holding various attributes
I thought of "statues of worshippers making offerings" but that is awfully long. "Statues of offerors" (although the work offeror conveys the right meaning) gets no ghits so I don't think offeror would work here either. Any ideas? Thanks. |

'offerants' (I missed the plural)
could also use 'bearers' |

| Grading comment This seems to be the most commonly used word in the context and as it is used only for the ancient statues it causes less confusion than the other terms. Many thanks to all! 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

Explanation: I don't want to copy you and Oliver, simply an idea. :)
And what about "figurines" instead of "statues", if it's the case?

This way you could combine any possible idea, I think.

Asker: Thanks! I have figurines and statuettes interspersed with statues through the text - it's long!
