Sulla spalla, tra due bande tratteggiate, il motivo a occhi riservati è ottenuto risparmiando entro la decorazione a cerchielli delle zone circolari.

If you look at the image in Figure 132 on page 113 of the PDF, you can see that the star is limited - does not extend past - the flat bottom of the ceramic piece.

You really were a big help, setting me on the right track. then I found the term in the Encyclopedia of prehistory as the "negative technique" where some areas are left unpainted creating the design as a sort of optical illusion. Thought you might like to know. Thanks again
