Italian term or phrase:"Nello Stadio" - painting by Carlo Carrà
Hi folks, I'm having a terrible time finding the English title of Carra's painting "Allo Stadio". His other paintings have official titles in English, so I can hardly leave this or make it up!
Any help appreciated!
"Nel 1935 Carrà partecipa, per la seconda volta, alla Quadriennale di Roma, esponendovi dieci opere legate al tema dello sport, tra cui Atleti in riposo, Nuotatori, Nello Stadio, e questa Sintesi di una partita di calcio, che in quell’occasione viene acquisita dalla Commissione per la Galleria d’Arte Moderna Mussolini."
Hi folks, I contacted the museum, which is why it took so long to close the question (they just answered last night). Anyway, they confirmed that "Nello Stadio" is the title and told me to leave it in Italian. Customer is always right, I suppose. Thanks anyway for your help.
Yes, that was why I was wondering. The "Atleti in riposo" is also called "I pugilatori" so the other one may have another name too. There is also dispute about the dates!!!
Could be anything!! I found The Swimmers and the Football Game, but the other two are mysteries. Can't even find them in Italian, so I'll have to ask "the source"!
Sorry, I meant to write "Nello Stadio". I've found the English names of all the other ones from official museum/gallery sites. I've tried the Quadriennale site, but the link to the 1935 Quadriennale, when these were exhibited, doesn't open!
