I'm struggling with the "serbatoio di esperienze (alle quali rimarrà profondamente legato)" part in particular.

Can anyone come up with any suggestions? They would be very much appreciated, thanks.

Explanation:
A serbatoio is some kind of vessel or tank that holds liquid, so his time in Bologna was like a vessel that contained meaningful experiences for him. Since any attempt to call it a container or a vessel in English would just sound strange, I would just say "source."
