Nei primi anni Trenta de Chirico fu spesso presente a Milano ed echi della sua attività, assurta a modello, assieme a quella di Modigliani e di Filippo De Pisis, di un’arte che a Parigi aveva conquistato una fisionomia ‘autonoma’ e ‘moderna’, si riscontrano sia in Manzù sia nelle coeve pitture di Sassu (fig. 12, 13).
