I'm sure you understand the nuances of "ingenuità" better than non madrilingua Daniela. In English, however, you would never confuse ingenuity with ingenuousness or even consider that they came from the same root. I would have expected ingegnosità for the former.

I also think it is about the narrative. I would actually suggest "ingenuity", although that search doesn't generate that many results. I did try and wasn't very lucky. However, I still think there is nothing wrong with "ingenuity", as a matter of fact it is probably better than "simplicity", it implies an element of originality as well as simplicity in a very positive sense.

Hi Russell, thanks for your suggestion. The problem here is we are talking about a sculpture - I'm not so sure the term is common in art criticism and I'm not sure it works well in the context. 'Narrative' on the other hand is commonly used in 'art speak' ... I wonder if this could work?
