This is one of those Italian words that doesn't have any single equivalent in English. Without a picture, you'll have to guess. It can be any sort of raised bowl or plate, including cake stands, raised bowls of any kind, and even elevated centrepieces! In this case, I'd probably just go for 'fruit stands.'
