Still on bikes I guess, because I don't think there would be any cutting process like this involving automotive wheels.
Seems the calender is basically a forming unit so I guess they're making the rim profile before cutting. I'm not really sure of how to describe the process: I think the profile is fashioned by being fed between a roller and mandrel having the required cross sections. An alternative to "rolled" could be "formed" maybe. Otherwise you'd have to see if you can find any details on the Web about cycle rim fabrication techniques.
