Italian to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Automotive / Cars & Trucks | | Italian term or phrase: pipetta | "Verificare le condizioni della pipetta della bobina di accensione (1)."
Ciao,
Non riesco a identificare una traduzione in inglese per questo termine. Mi pare che la spiegazione su wikipedia sarà azzeccata:
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impianto_d'accensione#Pipetta
Dà come nome alternativa "cappuccio candela" e a questo punto intuisco molte possibilità ma potrebbero essere sciochezze.
"pipette" mi pare improbabile
trovo risultati per ignition coil "nipple", ma non so se c’entra veramente e la stessa vale per "cap" che mi pare possibile senza convincermi assolutamente.
Qualcuno mi potrebbe aiutare?

| | English translation:cap | Explanation: From the exploded diagram on the link below, following Shera's link, this appears to be a protective rubber cap over the positive terminal on the starter motor solenoid. Various terms could adequately translate pipetta, but as a long time amateur mechanic 'cap' is what comes to mind.

Another term might be 'boot', as a cover that slips over something to protect it. |

| Grading comment I made an excursion to WR as well (nonchalant whistle) - I think it might be best to refrain from a glossary entry because aparently it can vary according to the type of plug/coil 3 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
