Here's another link for you - this is unequivocally a tissue floatation bath - a slide bath would be just the glass dish (albeit much smaller) without the contraption underneath.

neutral Ford Prefect: I think "stendifette" comes from "stendere" and "fette" - to separate/lay out paraffin embedded microtome sections in this case. Slide baths are used for treating/washing the prepared slides - they're just glass dishes you put chemicals in.
