Some plants are associated with limestones. Perhaps the phrase "descritte per" means "associated with" in your context? I am adding to my answer 2 quotations about plant species that are associated with limestones.

Hi: what sort of text is it? Is it establishing on record the plant species of the area - could it just be "described by" meaning previous surveys have recorded these species here growing in that way, etc., poss. here and there mentioning the name/date?

Maybe it's me... but I still don't see how these meanings fit. They are talking about plant associations/relationships. Such relationship can't be "reported for" the limestone or for "reported for the Nurra region"; and it can't be "because of" the limestone or Nurra- the plant association is certainly not caused by where it lives (that much is explained in the article). "grow across" fits a bit into my suspicions that it might mean "circoscritta a" but it still seems like a shot in the dark. I don't mean to be difficult but I am confused about this expression, and as it occurs many times in the text, I need to be sure. More thoughts? Anyone else ever seen this in botany texts? I appreciate everyone's contributions!

I found another similarly mysterious use of this term in the article. It makes no sense to me, but maybe it will help someone else understand... the sentence is
I densi arbusteti a che colonizzano le aree percorse da incendio possono essere riferiti all’associazione, descritta per il settore della Nurra nella Sardegna nord-occidentale.
Grazie a chi mi ha risposto.. ma non credo che abbiamo ancora azzeccato il significato! Comincia a venirmi il dubbio che possa voler dire "circoscritta a" ( a zone calcaree nel primo esempio e alla Nurra nel secondo)... what do you think?

Capisco descritte per come "la sua peculiarità" o "presenta un interesse particolare poiché".....
Non so se aiuta !?
