Italian term or phrase: pianta esemplare
potrebbe significare ornamentale??

Tollera il pieno sole, necessita di protezione contro le gelate da giovane e preferisce terreni ben drenati, da neutri ad acidi. E' eccellente come **pianta esemplare** e attira gli uccelli con i suoi fiori molto abbondanti per tutta l'estate.

What is a specimen plant?
A specimen is an ornamental plant that serves as a focal point in a garden, lawn, or indoor landscape. Specimens are most often isolated in an open space rather than being grouped in a bed. Sculptural elements, woody trunks, age, size, and unusual bends are some of the many characteristics that a specimen plant may have.

show plant

Explanation:
In home gardening I believe the idiom is a 'show plant.' They are 'exemplary' but are just not called that as far as I know.

What is a show plant?

"A show plant is any clean, well groomed, healthy, mature plant Size is not always a consideration, not all begonias grow to a large size. As long as the plant is reasonably symmetrical and healthy it can be a show plant."
[web source]

Other online example sentences:

"It will normally be about 12 inches across, although show plants are often much larger."

"Every Aponogeton ulvaceous grew into a show plant."

Example sentence(s):
  • It is very slow growing but easy to care for indoor/outdoor show plant. [web source]
  • In my garden my show plants are getting spoiled by black ants ? [web source]

Da come scrivono qui mi pare intendano anche pianta ben formata/adulta.

Per esempio da spostare facilmente e quindi trapiantare anche già adulta dal vivaio al nostro giardino. Con pochi problemi per attecchimento nel nuovo sito.
O ho troppa fantasia?
