Reference information:
While I can't disagree that cicoriella selvatica is 'wild chicory' - I don't know how the jump from 'zangune' to 'cicoriella selvatica came about.

In the Puglia and Salento area 'zangune' is the plant 'sonchus oleraceus.

I have this in some medicinal plant books and you can find this in Wikipedia Italian:

"Sonchus oleraceus L. è una pianta della famiglia delle Asteraceae. È detta Soncino, grespigno, crespigno o cicerbita. A Bari è chiamata sevone, e nel salento è Zangune."
[see web reference 1]

You can see web reference 2 for some names of 'Sonchus oleraceus' in English.

I'm just not certain how the jump was made from 'zangune' to 'cicoriella selvatica'.

'zangune' is in the same 'genus' as chicory, but their use in cooking and medicines is different, and I can't link the two words.

Nonetheless - 'cicoriella selvatica' is wild or common chicory.
