Italian term or phrase: drosera sp. pl.
So che drosera= sundew.

Michele Fauble: 5:27am Feb 18, 2005: Can you give more of the context? It is possible that it equals 'Drosera sp.', which means a plant of the genus Drosera, species undetermined. -
Michele Fauble: 6:04am Feb 18, 2005: 'sp.pl.' = 'specie plurime'. It is equivalent to 'spp.' , which is used in English language writings.
-
Michele Fauble: 6:10am Feb 18, 2005: Forget the bit about Linnaeus' Species Plantarum (Sp. Pl.). That was wrong. -
Michele Fauble: 6:52pm Feb 18, 2005: Correct. Just remember to capitalize the genus name (Drosera). Correct species nomenclature is genus capitalized, species lower case. -
Michele Fauble: 6:55pm Feb 18, 2005: That should be FIRST LETTER of the genus capitalized. -
paolamonaco (asker): 8:24pm Feb 18, 2005: Ok. Thank you very much!

Drosera Sp.Pl.
Explanation:
Botanical nomenclature. It is international, do not translate. Remember to capitalize the genus name (Drosera).

... Linnaeus named Uvularia sessilifolia in the first publication to use binomial nomenclature throughout - Species Plantarum (abbreviated Sp. Pl.). ...

Or perhaps it\'s equivalent to \'Drosera spp\', (Pl.= plural?) meaning \'Drosera species\'.

species (abr. sp., pl. spp.)
A fundamental category of taxonomic classification that ranks below a genus and above subspecies; a population or series of populations whose individuals have the potential to freely breed with one another and that is discontinuous in variation from other populations or series of populations. The plural abreviation \"spp.\" is usually used to refer to all the individual species within a genus, e.g., Cornus spp. refers to all the plants within the dogwood genus.

If it is followed by Linn. and a number, then it definitely refers to Linnaeus\' Species Plantarum.

Occasional on the face of shaded dripping cliffs in the Lower Chaparral Zone.
Adiantum pedatum Linn. Sp. Pl. 1065.
