"US-BOLOGNA. US-COSENZA. US-GENOVA. US-PALERMO. VENEZIA ... SC-CATANIA. TORINO. TRENTO. TRIESTE. US-BOLOGNA. US-COSENZA. US-PALERMO. "

In my case, it cannot be related to sports. It's related to transport (roads).

Ufficio speciale - special office
Explanation:
dovrebbe proprio trattarsi di uffici speciali. vedi:

http://www.codiceonline.com/Numeriutili.html

come poi tu lo voglia rendere in inglese non so, penso che semplicemente 'special office' potrebbe starci, in fondo essendo una cosa italiana non penso abbiano un termine tutto loro specifico.
ciao!

hi Valters. I think in another context it could also be unità stradale, but here I really think it's ufficio speciale, because otherwise they would all be unità stradali, why should only a few be different?
see also this web site (but there's more)

I'm not saying I'm 100% sure, but I'd be more for unità speciali here.
hope it was of some help.
ciao

sorry, at the end I got confused and mixed up the two things, I meant uffici speciali again, not unità speciali :-)
