Italian to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general)
Italian term or phrase: società esclusivamente commerciale
"Cercol Iberia Sl è una società esclusivamente commerciale, che svolge attività meramente distributiva dei prodotti di riferimento ed è dunque priva di impianti e linee di produzione propria".

MY try: "Cercol Iberai Sl is an exclusively marketing-related company, which merely distributes the relevant products and is thus devoid of its own plants and production lines".

I find "sales, marketing, business, trading and trade" for "commerciale" in my Hoepli IT-EN Dizionario economico/finanziario CD.

Is a sales company?
Is a marketing company?
Is a trading company? (this seems to imply the trading of shares more than of Mapei products, which are mostly chemicals and adhesives, and so might be misleading)

Thanks to all!

Peter

sales-only company
Explanation:
Hi Peter

Commerciale very often (in fact, usually) translates as "sales". it's a false friend, because all companies that exist to make a profit are commercial.

Personally I would leave out "società esclusivamente commerciale", because the text goes on to say that it distributes the products rather than manufacturing them, so it's basically telling us the same thing twice. But if you need a translation, my suggestion is "sales-only".

trade-only company

Explanation:
The company does not manufacture any product, it is only a reseller. A couple of examples:

purely a distribution company

Explanation:
Or if "a distribution company only", but in the advertising, company presentation context I think "purely" sounds much better. I think you can use the verb distribute (it distributes ... products) safely later, or alternatively just "sells". Alternatively, retailer or wholesaler, but it is really in UK jargon a builders' merchant of sorts.

Neat isn't it! The second regulator with the "octopus" is obsolete now.

I would look for something different for the second "distribute", rather than change "distribution company". The Italian repeats the same concept twice, as Phil explains. Much better in this "company image" document to just say it once in English.

Cercol Iberia Sl is a distribution company only which deals exclusively in xxx (Group perhaps for "di riferimento") products and therefore ...

Asker: I would avoid distribution because the phrase goes on to use that word again; I'm looking for something more strictly connoting the sales/marketing aspect (but not advertising). I think PHil's suggestion is the best so far. Thank you though, for your attempt. Kudos for the underwater shot, btw! Peter
