Italian term or phrase: utilizzi a incaglio
The context if the definition of default for a credit rating system. Any ideas what they're trying to say?

I default sono semplicemente dati dalle imprese che lungo la finestra temporale di performance di 12 mesi vanno in Sofferenza oppure Incaglio. Tutte le altre imprese sono in Bonis.
Queste imprese vengono sempre individuate dal centrale rischi , guardando allo stato del contratto e agli utilizzi (calcolo degli **utilizzi a incaglio** per la rettifica in bonis).

overdue loans

Explanation:
sofferenza = mancato pagamento da insolvente = insolvency
incaglio = temporaneo mancato pagamento (c'è speranza) = overdue payment/account/loans

doubtful loans

Explanation:
The bank of Italy has six categories of delinquent loans and there is no accepted standard way of translating them. You have a range of available adjectives: delinquent, problem, doubtul, impaired, non performing, etc. to translate sofferenze which are worse than incaglio which are worse than esposizioni scadute e sconfinate, to name just three.
The utilizzi is almost certainly loans and the traditional accounting translation of incagli is "doubtful" as in bad and doubful debt.
As for the meaning: "rettifica in bonis" doesn't make much sense and doesn't Google. I think it just means the "rettifica" which is the calculation of the impairment loss on the loan, i.e. the difference between the amount lent (in bonis, the performing loan) and the recoverable amount.

Note to reference poster
Asker: incaglio is not the problem phil - I'm trying to understand the whole phrase

neutral  James (Jim) Davis: I translate it thousands of times each year Phil, but this time it isn't clear. Yeah, reference is useful, it shows just how many difference terms there are for these items. The regulators in the UK, Basel and US write a new glossary every year.
