Italian to English translations [Non-PRO] Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs | | Italian term or phrase: corso libero triennale | Full phrase: 'corso libero triennale di corrispondente traduttrice in lingue estere' - from a diploma certificate.
I don't understand exactly what a 'corso libero' is - any ideas? |

| | three-year private course | Explanation: This EU document (http://bit.ly/nR8zOM) offers a definition of the courses in question:
"Accanto ai canali formativi istituzionali si colloca il sistema privato di formazione professionale, che riguarda le attività formative svolte in azienda senza contributi pubblici e i cosiddetti «corsi liberi», finanziati attraverso le rette di iscrizione e frequenza pagate dagli utenti."
These seem to be the courses we are concerned with given that the document later states that:
"la regione concede una presa d’atto ai corsi liberi e agli attestati rilasciati, utile a fini pubblicitari, ma priva di conseguenze pratiche per gli allievi"
This tallies with the certificate stating that the course is recognised by Lombardy region.
The English version of the document (http://bit.ly/pXFhBw) translates the term as "free-market courses"
"the region grants official cognisance (presa d’atto) to the ‘free-market’ courses and the certificates they issue, which may be used for publicity purposes but has no practical consequences for the trainees"
However I don't really like that translation and would simply use "private course". |
