Italian term or phrase: liceo ginnasio statale
Sto traducendo il diploma della scuola superiore di una ragazza e c'è scritto:

ISTITUTO: LICEO GINNASIO STATALE
Franco Rigoni
Italy
Local time: 05:26
state senior high school
Explanation:
To borrow from the Americans. A more generic term would be "state senior secondary school". Otherwise you use a more literal translation and explain with the term posted in brackets.

Grazie (non ho aggiunto classical studies perchè comunque viene specificato in seguito l'indirizzo - in questo caso poi la ragazza ha fatto semplicemente un linguistico all'interno di un istituto che probablilmente originariamente nasceva come classico)

neutral  Carmelo Arcidiacono: Since it includes the "ginnasio", I would say just "state secondary school"
30 mins
-> The media is a "middle" secondary school or a "junior high school" and the "superiore" is a "senior" school. I imagine this is an ordinary "superiore".

agree  Luisa Salzano: I would add "specialized in classical studies"
1 hr
-> Once you start adding, it is difficult to know where to end. "as opposed to science, modern languages etc.". Might be best to specify classical Greek and Latin, today.
