Italian to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng | | Italian term or phrase: azotatura | From a text on unloading hydrocarbons from ships:
"Alle navi per le quali è stata autorizzata da parte Responsabile di Logistica **l’azotatura** delle tanks di bordo, il terminale è in grado di fornire AZOTO SECCO alla pressione di XX bars con una portata media di XX Nm³/h"
Not sure if this would be "nitrogenization" or "azotization" or if I made both of them up!
Thanks all! |

| Clarification request(s) and responseGiovanni Pizzati: 11:26am May 23, 2007: Katarine, purging è insufficiente, significa epurazione. Ma a base di cosa?
risposta: azoto. Ed ecco che non hai tradotto nulla di fatto! kpi: 11:43am May 23, 2007: Hi Giovanni, thanks for your input. In fact, if you read the rest of the entry, I mentioned that I entered "nitrogen purging" in the glossary. as suggested by BristolTEc also. Do you think that is sufficient? Giovanni Pizzati: 12:15pm May 23, 2007: Katharine, you have to record the right solution on KOG in order to feed the data base and get BrowniZ points. kpi: 7:21am May 24, 2007: Thanks Giovanni, actually I thought I had entered the right solution into KOG - but I've done it now. I appreciate the help!

| | purging | Explanation: I think the idea here is to purge the tanks, removing oxygen. In the Italian they are specifically saying that this is with nitrogen (so nitrogen purging is an option)

There also appear to be other options, such as inerting or padding, but I suggest that purging appears most appropriate
