I beg to disagree. The term, "solfossidanti", indicates clearly enough that it's about OXIDIZING the sulphur. "Sulphur metabolizing" is indeed a "cover all term", but precisely for this reason it's inappropriate here. Metabolization of sulphur comprises both oxidizing and reducing sulphur -- processes that occur in different conditions and with different bacteria species. (The oxidizing species are aerobic and convert H2S or the S2- ion to sulphates, while the reducing ones are anaerobic and determine the very opposite process.) |
