| Reference: Quoting my chemistry teacher.
Reference information: I searched through the document (via link) supplied by Alexander Chisholm and reminded about something my chemistry teacher told us many years ago, talking about crystallization water: "another way to explain c.w. is calling it 'constituent water', meaning it's something different from, say, water in a solution; it is inherent in the crystal."
That's why I agreed to A.C.'s explanation. I should add that it is not exactly the same as for crystal lattice; however, if you think of the biomass as a 'crystal', the liquid phase inherent in the biomass is the 'constituent water'. I. e., we are not referring to water added. At least, that's how it looks to me. Maurizio
