I can't think of any way to use the whirlwind/hurricane metaphor successfully in this context as the image conjured up just doesn't sound right to me. I'd keep away from the original in Italian and try changing it around with something like this:
Suddenly our man plummets into their midst with a dive bomb right in the middle of the pool, triggering a tidal wave that soaks them all...etc etc.
or something along those lines anyway :-)
