Italian to English translations [Non-PRO]

I am translating a text about the Base Tunnel on the Variante del Valico and am stuck on a small part that explains some of the construction phases. It is in short bullet points and I am not sure what "piano dei centri" refers to in the following:
10. Esecuzione degli interventi al contorno costituiti da infilaggi valvolati (45 tubi diametro 127 mm, sp = 10 mm, passo 0.40 m, L = 18 m, sovrapposizione 6 m, inclinazione 5%, 1valvola al metro, fino al piano dei centri
My attempt:
10. Execution of the boundary interventions consisting of valved inserts (45 tubes diameter 127 mm, 10 mm thick, interval 0.40 m, L = 18 m, overlap 6 m, inclination 5%, 1 valve per metre, until the top of....
I would be very grateful for any help, most of the text dealt with the rock formation etc but this part is definitely out of my area of expertise!

| | (horizontal) tunnel centre plane | Explanation:
Check figure 1 on page 5 (P.C. at centre of diameter lines) and page 5 on page 8: the piano dei centri seems the plane determined by the tunnel centre, with its cross-section horizontal diameter as one side (where the two horizontale segments are) and the tunnel length as the other side. Of course this "plane" follows the geometry of the tunnel.
