Italian to English translations [PRO] Cosmetics, Beauty / straightening/curling irons
Italian term or phrase:trafila
"Le trafile rivestite in Tormalina hanno la capacità di emettere naturalmente ioni negativi, questo garantisce un effetto anti-frizz sul capello e assicura la massima protezione durante l’acconciatura con la piastra".
Normally "trafila" is extruder, or "die" etc., but I can't find any translation for it in this context. Anyone know what it is?

personally, when i read piastra i translate it as iron/straightener, bearing in mind the way people use these terms in italian and english respectively. so i suppose the trafila is referring to the actually metal plate that is built into the straightener.
Is it possible that "trafile" could be heaters or coils or motors? (I really don't know.)
Because my source establishes that all of these, plus plates (and also barrels and bristles) are infused with tourmaline, towards the end of protecting the hair and fighting frizz.
I presume that a piasta/flat iron has heaters, plates, coils, and motors (but not bristles, which would be on an electric styling brush, and I think, not barrels, which would be for a curling iron), or some combination of these.
in the world of flat irons, there is a war between tourmaline and ceramic, with tourmaline on the winning side, due to far superior protective qualilties.
With the T3 flat iron, for example, "you get tourmaline through and through, unlike other products, which simply make do with a sprayed coat of ,ceramic,. "
BYW T3 tourmaline flat irons are GREAT - I have one and it does what it promises: great hair, no damage.

since it's a flat iron, probably "plates", but depends on hair styling object (see below for list)
Explanation: All of these are infused with tourmaline for hair styling products, depending on whether a blowdrier, a flat iron, a curling iron, a curling brush, etc.: heaters, plates, coils, motors, barrels, and bristles.
From the Sephora T3 page (T3 sell the leading tourmaline hair straightener):
First, a desciption of how the tourmaline is used:
Through Flawless™, tourmaline is crushed into a fine powder and infused, suspended, immersed, baked, and/or injected into the body of the heaters, plates, coils, motors, barrels, and bristles as they are being formed. Meaning you get tourmaline through and through, unlike other products, which simply make do with a sprayed coat of ceramic.
TOURMALINE TECHNOLOGY
It's Not Just a Bunch of Hot Air
The first to harness the remarkable electrical qualities of the semi-precious, tourmaline jewel (the world's most potent ionic mineral), T3 products deliver the fastest, healthiest heat-styling humanly possible. How it works: Compared with conventional styling tools, which rely on scorching heat and blasting air, all tourmaline-infused T3 products are based on breakthrough ionic science, which offers speedy styling while preventing static, frizz, and color fading. In fact, thanks to this high-tech technology, T3 tools are so gentle, you can use them everyday and damage won't be an issue. And with their new, head-turning Bespoke Labs collection—featuring Flawless™, T3's Tourmaline technology—the lock-loving line has revolutionized the world of hairstyling products (and your morning routine) to a whole new level.
Highly prized by those in the know, tourmaline is referred to as the "electric stone"—when it's heated up or under pressure, its unique molecular structure converts nearby atoms into negative ions. Luckily for everyday stylers, these negative ions speed up the evaporation process to help dry the hair in half the time. This, combined with the penetrative yet gentle infrared heat waves, converts dry, brittle, and frizzy into unbelievably smooth, silky, and shiny.

Asker: hi Simona. but they say things like "molecole di argento direttamente sul corpo e sulle trafile delle sue piastre". so the plate and the "trafila" are different. or am i missing something?
